World Blood Donor Day

Chief Guest: Zamurd Khan (CEO, Pakistan Sweet Home)

>> World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on 14th june each year.
>> An awareness seminar was organised by PIMS blood bank to tribute voluntary blood donors at MCH auditorium.
>> Dr. lqbal Durrani (JED PIMS), Dr. lrum Naveed (deputy Director Administration), Prof. Dr. SH Waqar (Principal FMC) and Dr. Ahmareen Khalid participated in the seminar.
>> Dr. Farwa Sijjeel (Incharge Blood bank) highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and lmportance of world blood donor day.
>> The panalist discussed the importance of voluntary blood donation and the day. The tribute was given to our heroes Gen. Mustafa Kamal Akbar and Mr. Murtaza Burhani who donated blood more than 100 times.
>> A poster competition was also organised on importance of blood donation in which FMC students participated.

World Thalassemia Day

Chief Guest: Zamurd Khan (CEO, Pakistan Sweet Home)

>> On May 8th, 2024, World Thalassemia Day was celebrated at PIMS with patients. Cake cutting ceremony was also held at this moment.
>> Dr. Maqbool, Dr. Nuzhat, Dr. Ahmareen, Dr. Farwa Sijjeel (Incharge, Blood Bank), Dr. Tazeen Anwar (Incharge, Thalassemia Center), Students and Thalassemia patients were the participants.
>> At this event, Incharge Blood Bank informed that the blood is being provided to all the patients round the clock without any delay. Besides this, Thalassemia patients are provided with leucoreduced filters to minimize the transfusion reactions.
>> Average 35 to 40 bags are being provided on daily basis but need to work on prevention.

World Hemophilia Day

On April 17, 2024, the global bleeding disorders community will come together to celebrate World Hemophilia Day. The theme of the event this year is “Equitable access for all: recognizing all bleeding disorders”. The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) vision of Treatment for All is for a world where all people with inherited bleeding disorders have access to care, regardless of their type of bleeding disorder, gender, age, or where they live.
