History

The Children’s Hospital was conceived as an institute of excellence in the early 1980s. Japan, through JICA, approved and supported the project in 1982. Construction by Tobishima Corporation of Tokyo began in March 1983 and was completed in March 1985. The hospital was handed over to Pakistan’s Ministry of Health in May 1985.

A new outpatient department was built between 1991 and 1992. The hospital covers approximately 179,600 square feet and is a symbol of cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.
