Computer Lab.

We have got a computer lab with all accessories including Digital camera printer scanner. They are utilized for keeping the data of interesting patients doing studies preparing slides and papers for publishing and presentation We have a liaison with pathology department where clinicopathological correlation is done and clinical as well as dermatopathology slides are made for keeping the data record. This helps a lot in doing our studies on patients and teaching with postgraduate training.

Future Plans:

Microbiology Unit

Our plan is to establish a unit for Microbial studies, which will include Mycology and bacteriology studies unit, Tzank smears, smear for LT/LD bodies. Culture studies, serology and PCR for leishmaniasis are also in our plan.

Electron Microscope

We have got the liaison with pathology department for establishing an electron microscopy unit.

Laser Therapy Unit

We intend to establish different types of lasers to remove benign and superficial tumors, resurfacing for the treatment of pigmentary disorders scarring, wrinkles and treatment of Hirsutism and vascular pathology like haemangiomas, port wine stains, telengactasias and blue rubber bleb nevi.

Dermatosurgery Unit

We plan to have a Hyfercator for assistance in the surgical procedures, as our existing Cautery unit is not sufficient for extensive surgical procedures

In our future plans we intend to do culture studies for melanocytes besides different types of grafting for the treatment of vitiligo patients. These cultured melanocytic cells will be transferred to the recipient vitiliginous skin.

Contact dermatitis Clinic

In contact dermatitis we will study for patch testing, prick test intradermal test and provocation test for different types of skin and systemic allergies. We plan to get batteries for all types of patch testing including textile dermatitis, shoe dermatitis, hair dyes and cosmetics.

Sexually transmitted infection Clinic.

Sexually transmitted disease is integral part of Dermatology; this unit will cater for the all the sexually transmitted diseases including HIV.

Genetic Studies Unit.

Patients with the different types of genetic disorders will be studied particularly regarding genetic mutations, gene studies and genetic engineering

It's a matter of pride to mention that Minister of health Government of Pakistan have given the concurrence for elevation of our Dermatology unit to the status of an institute.
