The services available in the various sections of the department are as follows:

Out Door Department:

This consists of a filter clinic and a consultant's clinic. The consultant clinic is on alternate days i.e. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The filter clinic is staffed by post fellowship trainees who sit daily. All oncology patients are clerked and assessed thoroughly and then are either admitted for further treatment or worked up. These patients are seen and managed without any pre-conditions or requisites. Patients suspected of suffering from a malignancy are also assessed and then directed or referred to the appropriate facility for further diagnostic tests or procedures. A breast cancer screening is also functioning alongside the routine OPD. This service is open to all persons during the OPD timings.

Chemotherapy Bay:

This service was established to facilitate those patients not requiring admission but being referred for chemotherapy administration. This functions during OPD hours and is located in Medical Ward 3 so as to ensure availability of a doctor. A dedicated nurse is available to look after and administer chemotherapy. Blood and blood component transfusion services are also offered to patients suffering from pancytopenia/myelosuppression and those referred from NORI.

Indoor Department:

This consists of 8 beds; 4 female and male beds each. A daily teaching round is conducted by Consultant Oncologist. Twice weekly - on Monday and Thursday - a joint clinical meeting with the Departments of Pulmonology/ICU and Dermatology is held in Med Ward 3 .Case presentations and seminars are made in turn by these respective departments. Grand rounds are also presented by the Department of Oncology in their turn.

Emergency Cover:

The Department of Oncology offers around the clock cover to the Emergency Department and is the only dedicated Oncology service in the city to attend acute cancer patients. A resident is on call in the ward at all times.
